Whether you're a kid who can't wait to start writing your own picture book, a teen who can't wait to express the ups and downs of your life in your own novel, or an adult who is stricken with writer's block and can't wait to get back into the groove you once had with your writing, there are activities here to serve your purpose!

There are many ideas you can use to capture the essence of your own writing and break through your writer's block. I'll lead off with a basic, everyday example of how easy it is to do just that...

Notice more. This is a creative writing activity in itself. It may seem commonplace and ordinary, but noticing is anything but those two adjectives.

Notice the dew drops on the grass each morning. Notice the snowflakes and the different shapes that make each one intricate and unique. Notice how many people step on and off the bus at the corner drugstore while you wait for the light to turn green. These may seem like the most minute details, but they make for the most distinct, descriptive writing.

People don't notice often enough. You yourself are probably swept up so much in your daily routine that you never even consider considering. This is where a lot of people with writer's block get stuck. They think very routinely, and don't look outside of the box to see all the possibilities that exist.

Creative writing activities can be simple things. The keeping of a journal or the questioning of oneself to find answers makes for even better and more inspired writing. You may also want to try using similes and metaphors or homophones to see how they add to the development of your writing.

You might even try a fun writing activity to spark more creativity. Group writing exercises can provide great inspiration as well.

Test out how to come up with various word interpretations. Consider euphemism examples that play with word meanings. See all the ways you can understand words to help you become even more creative in your writing skills.

Let me ask you some questions. I expect you to answer truthfully! Do you ever notice the clouds forming shapes in the sky or the sun setting over the horizon? Do you ever just stop and smile and think about just what it was that caused you to be happy in that moment? Do you keep a journal, blog, or other piece of writing that chronicles your thoughts and emotions?

Whether you answered yes or no to any or all of the above questions, you are embarking on a journey that will help you realize just how powerful you can make your writing through the appreciation of various creative writing activities and your acknowledgment of how you will push past writer's block and write like you have never written before!

Consider this as you continue reading and writing using the creative writing activities and helpful hints all around this website...

Quite a while ago, I saw a deer on the front lawn of a house on my normal driving route. The weird thing is that there are no forests in the area. Yet, there was a deer, nibbling at the grass, looking as if it came straight out of a Disney movie. It's not something I see every day. So, I stopped the car for a few seconds to just notice it. It was a fantastic feeling to know I could take that time and later on think back on it. Some people barely have enough time to slow up and watch something so wonderful and rare occur. For this, I feel lucky. And I want you to feel lucky, too! Take each moment and savor it. If you give a little, you may get a lot in return. Whatever it is you get back, make sure to not only think on it, but write it down! Let the creative writing activities on this website guide you on your path to doing just that.
