Come on already! Creative writing contests are just waiting for you to send in your work!

It's alright. I've been there too. Creative writing contests have you intimidated, thinking your work isn't up to snuff.

You're stuck in writer's block mode and you can't think of what more to write.

Or maybe you just don't believe that there is any way your work could possibly stack up next to the likes of previous contest winners.

You must remember that there are writing contests out there for all ages and all writing styles!

Poetry contests are always available for you enter and win. You can have a chance at earning everything from cash prizes to publication of your poetry in magazines. See some of the contests on that page for more information on how to go about entering these poetry writing competitions!

Creative writing contests for teens can be found in places ranging from magazines such as "Teen Ink" to English teachers' bulletin boards.

I post numerous writing contests in my English classroom as a means of encouraging my students to branch out and write not only for my class, but for themselves.

Writing contests for children are also very popular. Scholastic, Inc. and Creative Communication are just two big names that honor students' work and proudly feature their writing in print.

There are adult writing contests as well, including the Ernest Hemingway imitation competition. These contests are a bit harder to find, but with a bit of persistence, I have been lucky enough to include some for you here.

Write, write, and write some more until you have that perfect piece that you wish to submit to these writing contests.

Then, submit it to the contests, but don't lose your drive to write! Keep writing so that you can keep submitting more and more writing.

You may be pleasantly surprised at how many opportunities truly do exist for the patient writer out there!
