is quite simple.

Have you ever wondered how to write blogs that attract readers and sustain their attention? There are all different sorts of ways to get a blog going. Learning how to start a blog is obviously the first step, but learning how to write a blog is when you really get into the nitty-gritty of what will entice and envelop your readers.

Blogs can be thought of, in a sense, as examples of opinions. When you read someone’s blog, you are likely reading a recap of events about his or her day, a movie or TV show that person watched, or some other random facts that make that person want to hunker down and write until it’s all out there on the Internet for the world to peruse. Practicing with the idea of how to write an opinion will help you become more aware of just what it takes to write a unique and sustainable blog. It’s all related back to bias, if you really think about it.

Bias doesn’t have to mean that you are totally against any opposing viewpoints. You might just see things a certain way and want to write about that. Bloggers must be open to opinions. They must be willing to invite commentary from their readers so that a deliberately creative and engaging world can take shape within the blog. You can be biased in the way you write, but don’t turn yourself off to what others think. Just as you are invited to start a blog and learn how to write blogs that feed the public’s need for astute and unique commentaries, others are invited to do the same. Give them the same benefit of the doubt that you hope they’ll give you. It’s all a matter of being a leader who is also willing to be a follower.

By this I mean that if you are willing to lead people through your own thought processes and conjectures, you must be willing to follow what they have to say and see it for what it is. I don’t mean that you should follow blindly, by any means, but I do mean that you should use others’ perspectives to fuel your own. Let what they have to say shine through in what you have to say. Be careful, of course, about plagiarism and citing your sources if you take information verbatim.

Blogs abound on the Internet. There are book review blogs, movie review blogs, TV blogs, and a whole host of other types. You can learn how to write blogs about basically anything. Reading through various kinds of blogs that relate to your topic of interest, and even reading blogs that have nothing to do with your topic of interest may prove handy in encouraging the style and substance that will eventually be revealed through your own blog.

Be sure that the information you are presenting in your blog is useful. If readers don’t find your ideas worthwhile, they will not be apt to keep reading or coming back. You must know your audience in order for a blog to work to its best potential. Take the movie Julie and Julia as an example of this. The movie was about a woman who decided to write a blog in which she would try every recipe from Julia Childs’ recipe book over the course of 365 days and post about her experiences doing so. She could have captured numerous audiences in this way, from food lovers to cooks to Julia Child enthusiasts, to people who just wanted to see if she could really do what she claimed she was going to do – write a blog every single day about a new recipe she was trying out from that cookbook.

Knowing your audience will serve you well as you begin writing. Find out what your readers are interested in and cater your writing style and content to that mass of people. Engage them and make your words implore them to want to read more.

Remember that originality is one of the keys to great writing, whether it is in a blog post or some other medium. Learning how to write blogs that will inspire, motivate, sustain readership, etc. requires creating your own words and phrases that are imaginative and purposeful. If you merely repeat what others have already stated on other blogs, or you just recap exactly what happened in a book, TV show, or movie you watched, or a debate or discussion you listened to with others, you won’t be doing your readers any favors. They want to know other perspectives and see other viewpoints in order to help them formulate their own reasoning. Think back to when Lost was on the air. If everyone had merely recapped what happened in each and every episode, no one would have had a unique take on anything. The way that people provided their own thoughts on the innumerable questions that Lost raised made the message boards of blogs and other websites chock full of thoroughly engaging material.

Using creative writing images is important in learning how to write a blog as well. Inspirational cartoons can be helpful too. It depends, of course, on the post that you are making on your blog, but images and cartoons can be most influential in terms of garnering your readers’ continued investment in your blog writing. Images, cartoons, and the like are aesthetically pleasing, and they catch the eye more quickly than words do at times. Seeing an image that you like may be just the thing that gets you to read on and see what someone has to say about something you may not have otherwise read about.

Commenting on other blogs is yet another key to knowing how to write blogs that sparkle with intrigue. Sharing your thoughts with others about what they had to say will not only help you promote your own blog, but it will also help people see that you are willing to share your opinions with others and not be one-sided by only focusing on your own blog. This goes back to the idea of biased writing. Don’t get caught in the trap of being too set in your ways and not willing to find out what others think.

Once you have a handle on all of these ideas, you will not only be able to convince yourself to keep writing, but you will be able to convince your readers to keep coming back. Enjoy the ride that learning how to write blogs can take you on. You’re sure to enjoy it once you get started!
